Masayo has been offering koto and shamisen lessons for over 30 years. Students are from kids, adults, to elderly people. Lessons are offered in Midtown west, Manhattan in New York City. One lesson is 1-hour long. You will be asked to take 2 lessons per month. Each student should have own instrument to practice at home, but does not need to bring for lessons.

Where are the koto and shamisen lessons?
Midtown Manhattan, West Side, a block from the 42nd Street A,C, E, subway station and a short distance from Times Square. Also offering NJ and Washington DC lessons on weekends. Please contact us for more information.
How much for each lesson?
Private lessons only (no group lessons): 2 lessons per month minimum requirement, $170 per month. If you want to come more than twice per month that can be scheduled.
- I offer these options for non-regular student. One 1-hour lesson $120 per lesson Or, One 1.5-hour lesson at $140 per lesson.
Do I need to bring my instrument to the lesson?
No, you can use one of my kotos or shamisens.
When are lessons offered?
Generally, Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (last lesson starts at 7:00 p.m.)
If it is not convenient for you, we can discuss it with you.
What about weekend lessons?
If you are unable to come during the weekdays, for example because you live far away from New York City, it is possible. Please discuss for availability.
